The Tanzania Biodiversity Information Management Tool (BIMT) aims to make biodiversity data freely, openly and universally available to any data users via the internet. Thus, BIMT provides its open-access infrastructure to support scientific understanding and improve biodiversity and conservation outcomes for Tanzania and the Globe at large. BIMT does not guarantee the accuracy of the biodiversity data served through the tool. Use of data accessed through the tool is at the user’s own risk. However, data users are encouraged to notify BIMT regarding data quality and other issues concerning data shared through the website, using the feedback mechanisms provided in the tool. In order to make attribution of use for owners of the data possible, the identifier of ownership of data must be retained with every data record shared onward for reuse. Users must publicly acknowledge data acquired from BIMT, following the scientific convention of citing sources in conjunction with the use of the data.
